Water quality advisories issued for Upper Fintry, Westshore & Killiney Beach

Aug 9, 2021 | 11:15 AM

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued water quality advisories for the Upper Fintry, Westshore and Killiney Beach water systems in the Westside Road area.

RDCO says the advisories come after the water quality declined because the of a power outage and because a lot of the water has been used to fight the White Rock Lake wildfire.

The advisories will remain in place until further notice for both the Upper Fintry-Shalal Road-Valley of the Sun and Westshore Estates water systems. A previously issued advisory for the Killiney Beach water system remains in effect.

These advisories affect approximately 731 properties.

The RDCO recommends people on these water systems, particularly the immunocompromised, the elderly and children, boil their water for at least one minute before use, including for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages and ice, and for brushing teeth.

The water advisories will remain in effect until testing confirms the water quality is withing acceptable Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.
