City of Vernon renews call for volunteers to support White Rock Lake evacuees

The City of Vernon is seeking volunteers to assist with the Emergency Support Services (ESS) program to assist evacuees displaced by the White Rock Lake wildfire.

The city will train volunteers to work in the reception centre and help with evacuee registration and refer them to services that provide basic needs such as food, shelter and essential items.

A number of positions are available for the volunteers, including data entry, evacuee registration, preparation of service referrals and program support.

Anyone with specific skills that could benefit the ESS program are also asked to make note of them on the online application, which can be found at the city’s website.
