Jun 28, 2021 | 3:25 PM

British Columbia continues to see COVID-19 case counts go down.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, reported 38 new cases today, along with 50 on Sunday and 57 on Saturday, for an average of 48 per day.

The weekend total of 145 raises the overall case count to 147, 549.

Of the new cases since Friday, 26 were in Interior Health with 48 in Vancouver Coastal, 68 in Fraser Health, one in Island Health and Henry did not provide any figure for Northern Health, presumably meaning it was zero.

There are now 930 active cases in the province with 107 people in hospital and 37 in critical or intensive care.

Five more people have died of the virus, raising the total to 1,754.

Dr. Henry said one of the victims in in their 20’s, with one in their 60’s and three in their 70’s.

On the vaccine front, Henry says 427,000 doses were administered in B.C. last week, the busiest week since the immunization program started.

“Today, we are reporting that 78.1% of all adults in B.C. and 76.8% of those 12 and older have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, 30.5% of all adults in B.C. and 28.5% of those 12 and older have received their second dose,” said Henry. “In total, 4,886,709 doses of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 1,320,194 of which are second doses.”
