Highway through Salmon Arm gets upgrade
The Trans Canada Highway through Salmon Arm is going to get a multi-million dollar upgrade starting this fall.
The province has announced a $29.7 million contract to a Lower Mainland company to expand the number-one highway from two to four lanes and to build a new Salmon River Bridge.
The four-laning will cover just over two kilometres from 1st Avenue SW to 10th Avenue SW.
The contract was awarded to Springline Construction Services Ltd. of Delta, and hiring local workers will be made a priority through the Community Benefits Agreement.
