Coldstream gets set for boats

Coldstream boat launches are re-opening in a phased-in approach, with the Westkal boat launch set to open in two days time for non-motorized watercraft.

Chief Administrative Officer Trevor Seibel says the health and safety of employees, residents and parks users is the top priority.

“We need to ensure that people maintain proper social physical distancing when outside,” Seibel said.

All beach accesses will remain closed including Kalamalka Beach, Tamarack Beach, Sovereign Park Beach, Kirkland Beach, Kalavista Beach, Pumphouse Beach and Westkal Lake accesses.

• Kinloch boat launch and Westkal boat launch will be used for non-motorized launches only. Please be advised there is limited parking at both of these locations.
• Kalavista boat launch will be used for motorized launches only.
The Westkal boat launch will be opened May 6. The Kinloch boat launch will be opened at the conclusion of the current maintenance project.

The Kalavista boat launch will be opened as follows:
1. May 12, 13, 14 – between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for local residents who have on water storage for their boats. You will not be able to park in the boat launch parking lot. This is a ‘drop and go’ service.
2. May 15, 16, 17, 18 – between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Kal Lake day users.
3. Effective May 20 – open Wednesday to Sunday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

To facilitate an orderly re-opening of Kalavista boat launch, the following guidelines will be used:
a. You will need to book a launch time by calling 250-550-1505.
b. Launch times will be staggered to ensure appropriate physical distancing.
c. Boats will launch between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Boats are to return between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
d. There will be a maximum of 20 boats allowed to launch with 20 spaces reserved for trailer parking in the Kalavista parking lot.
e. Do not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled launch time.
The booking process will be posted to the District of Coldstream website at www.coldstream.ca.
