Vernon cancels burning permits

Any burning permits issued by Vernon Fire Rescue have been cancelled until April 15.

That’s a result of a provincial ban on open burning in high smoke sensitivity zones which includes most of the Okanagan.

The Environment Ministry said the restriction will reduce excess air pollution and reduce the chances of getting respiratory viral infections such as COVID-19.
