Playground structures in City parks (at Barnes Park and Riverside Park) are closed to the public due to the inability to maintain social distancing and sanitation.

The playground structures will be wrapped in caution ribbon and signed to prohibit use.

Essential and emergency services continue to be delivered without interruption and contingency plans are in place to ensure the continued delivery of priority services.

The City has set up an Emergency Operations Centre to liaise with external agencies involved in the pandemic response, coordinate the City’s internal response across departments and undertake advance planning for response and recovery to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City encourages all residents to take the necessary precautions as recommended by the BC Centre for Disease Control and observe the orders and advice of the Public Health Officer.

The District of Coldstream has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

It’s also closing all of its public spaces and facilities.

“This is a precautionary measure put in place to address situations should they arise in support of District residents, the public and to support the effects that this pandemic has had on our community,” Trevor Seibel, chief administrative officer, said.

Updates will be provided on the district’s website at www.coldstream.ca.

“This activation is to ensure that the District of Coldstream is adapting to the COVID-19 directives by the Provincial Medical Health Officer,” Seibel said.

In support of the public gathering orders and social distancing measures put in place by the province, the District of Coldstream is closing all of its parks, beaches, parking lots and public spaces, including all equipment and infrastructure such as playground equipment, skateboard parks and playing fields effective immediately.

“We are asking people NOT to gather in public spaces and to respect the two-meter social distancing protocols required by the Provincial Medical Health Officer,” Seibel said.

Seibel said residents, businesses and stakeholders are advised the district is currently “remotely open for business.”
