City of Vernon planning for staff amidst closures

The City of Vernon is not yet saying if the closure of recreation and cultural facilities due to the pandemic will mean layoffs.

“We are still working on personnel planning,” City spokesperson Christy Poirier said.

One option being looked at is possibly reallocating staff to other city operations.

The recreation centre, including the pool, as well as all city-run ice rinks and gyms close just before midnight tonight.
