Theme chosen for 61st annual Winter Carnival

Mar 11, 2020 | 8:24 AM

Expect to see lots of cowboys and cowgirls having fun at Vernon Winter Carnival in 2021.

The theme for the 61st annual event next February will be Wild West Carnival.

Society executive director, Vicki Proulx, said the theme is chosen from suggestions from the community.

“This is a theme that has been requested a lot over the years. Not only does this theme allow us to showcase a big part of Vernon’s history, but it gives some great opportunity for new and unique events.”

Proulx said businesses and community organizations are encouraged to saddle up and host a Carnival event.

“2020 showcased many vintage Carnival events – which the community loved, so we would love for businesses and organizations to look at the carnivals of the past and see what events might be ready for a come back.”

“Wild West Carnival is going to be an amazing event,” said Deb White, chair of Vernon Winter Carnival Society. “We feel that every member of the family can get involved with this theme and look forward to seeing everyone at the 2021 Wild West Carnival.”

The mid-winter festival, presented by Valley First, is from Feb. 5 to 14, 2021.

2021 event and sponsorship applications are available now on the Carnival website https://vernonwintercarnival.com
