Witnesses described it as a takedown-type arrest by police outside a Vernon convenience store and gas station.
It took place outside Hunters Store on Pleasant Valley Road around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday where a witness said police smashed the window of a pickup truck to get the driver out.
Cpl. Tania Finn said officers were advised of a 32-year-old man who was in mental health distress, and he was located outside the store and apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
“He was transported to hospital in order to be treated by a doctor,” Finn told Vernon Matters.
