Group makes pitch for rink roof funding

Feb 25, 2020 | 4:55 PM

The Lavington Community Association is seeking $50,000 from Coldstream council to help in its effort to get a steel roof over the Jeffers Park ice rink.

The project would cost $300,000, with pledges of support already received from Kal Rotary ($40,000) and Tolko employees ($17,000).

Committee member Kathleen Ott says the roof is not just for the hockey rink.

“This will give our community a year round community space for events in the future,” said Ott on Facebook.

“This is a community facility,” Bronwyn Watson, with the association, told council.

The association has currently raised $167,000 towards the cost.

Coldstream council will consider the request as part of its 2020 budget process.
