Fire leaves garage as ‘total loss’

A garage was left a total loss after a fire in Lavington Tuesday night.

The site on Reid Road was in Lumby’s fire jurisdiction.

“The garage is a total loss,” Lumby’s Fire Chief Tony Clayton said. “There was also damage to the house, mostly the vinyl siding melted on the house.”

There were no injuries, and the two occupants and pets are being cared for by emergency services.

Clayton says the cause is being looked into, but is not considered suspicious.
