Bleeding assault victim walks into hospital; police investigating

A man is in hospital following a serious assault in Vernon.

RCMP were called after a man walked into Vernon Jubilee Hospital with injuries consistent with an assault just after 4:30 Saturday morning.

“Police arrived on scene and located blood near the entrance of the hospital; however, learned the incident had taken place at another location,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer. “The man was bleeding as he walked to the hospital.”

The police dog team conducted a track from the hospital to the scene where the incident occurred, a site police have not identified.

“The investigation is in the early stages as police interview witnesses. The victim is not cooperating with the investigation; however, police believe this to be an isolated incident,” Finn added.
