UPDATE: Mail delivery still suspended in Vernon; some may not get it in Lake Country & Kelowna

Feb 6, 2020 | 12:14 PM

UPDATE

It’s another day without mail for Vernon area residents.

Canada Post said on Friday, due to current weather conditions, Vernon remains under a Red Alert for a second day and residents will not get mail.

“Delivery will resume when conditions improve and it is safe to do so,” said Hayley Magermans, media relations with Canada Post.

Kelowna and Lake Country have been upgraded to a Yellow Alert today.

“Which means that while we are making our best effort to deliver, due to the weather conditions, some customers may not receive mail today,” Magermans added.

In general, Canada Post is asking residents to keep the area outside their homes as safe as possible for mail carriers.

“We are asking Canadians to keep a clear path home, clearing snow and ice from their walkways, stairs, and driveways,” said Magermans.

Feb. 6 story

If you anxiously waiting for a piece of mail to come in today, you are going to have to wait.

Canada Post has suspended mail delivery today, Feb. 6, because weather conditions have made it unsafe.

Delivery will start up once weather conditions improve and it is deemed safe, according to Canada Post.

The postal delivery service is reminding all residents to clear snow and ice from walkways, stairs and driveways.
