Early Years Centre to open in March

Feb 6, 2020 | 5:27 PM

Parents on the hunt for childcare will soon have a little sense of relief.

The Early Year’s Centre located between Lumby and Lavington is set to open to families on March 2, 2020.

The announcement comes months after the childcare centre had to hit the brakes on opening after learning they would need to install a $200,000 water holding system in order to obtain an occupancy permit. Approximately 60 families were left hanging on the centre’s waitlist.

But the community stepped up, generating enough money to fund the
essential water holding system, which was installed this past January.

” We’re so thankful for parents’ patience and the funding that came through, and we just can’t wait to open the doors,” Roxanne Brierley, capital campaign coordinator of The Bridge Educational Society.

The new Early Years Centre will offer infant toddler, daycare and afterschool spaces for children with full and half-day spaces available.

Unique to the facility are four connected main classrooms with separate entrances. The Bridge Educational Society says it will help children feel welcome walking into their own space each day.

Whole child learning, aimed at meeting individual child needs will be the focus of the Early Year’s Centre, according to the Bridge Educational Society. Opportunities for experiential and community learning on its rural farm-forest campus is something children will experience.
