How to eat local in the winter

If you’re looking for ideas on how to eat local in the winter, an event this week in Vernon may be something to put on your plate.

Local food producers, farmers and cooks will be on hand at the Schubert Centre for a free community event Thursday (Jan. 23) from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Get great ideas on how to enrich your winter diet, and your pocketbook, while helping to build your local economy and reducing your footprint,” a news release from the event sponsor, Sustainable Environment Network Society, said.

“Learn ideas for winter dishes that are healthy, tasty, save time and money, and keep purchasing power in the community.”
