Courthouse repairs on track for spring

Jan 20, 2020 | 5:10 AM

Upgrades to the 105-year-old Vernon courthouse could get underway this spring.

The Ministry of Citizens’ Services says final designs on structural work should be ready by March, with implementation soon after that.

“The structural assessment of the courthouse was completed in August 2019, and in December the consultant team submitted preliminary design drawings for the identified repair work. We expect the final design to be completed by March 2020 for implementation beginning April,” the ministry said in a statement to Vernon Matters.

The ministry says about $750,000 has been spent on the project to date after water and mould damage in several rooms was caused by a faulty air conditioner last April.
