Nov 22, 2019 | 9:58 PM

What a homecoming!

A near sellout crowd of 2,993 fans at Kal Tire Place cheered the Vernon Vipers on to a 2-1 shootout win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Friday night.

The win came on the annual First Responders Appreciation Night.

It was also the Vipers first home game in a month after 11 straight road games.

Logan Cash, a native of Upper Tantallon Nova Scotia, scored the shootout winner for Vernon who improved to 14-10-1-1.

Matt Kowalski, with his 11th of the season, scored for Vernon after Drew Bennett netted the game’s opening goal for Salmon Arm, the only marksman to beat Reilly Herbst who made 30 saves in the goaltender’s duel with Silverback Ethan Langenegger, a Kamloops native.

The Vipers host the Langley Rivermen Saturday night at 6 p.m., 5:45 pre game show on 107.5 Beach Radio.
