Pedestrian struck by truck

Nov 20, 2019 | 2:55 PM

A woman has been taken to hospital after getting struck by vehicle just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Two witnesses to the incident said a driver in a white truck was trying to make a left turn when the truck hit the female pedestrian walking in the crosswalk.

The incident happened along 32 Avenue and 34 Street next to Beach Radio.

“She flew way up in the air,” said Debbie, a witness to the incident.

“She never said anything. She just laid there.”

B.C Ambulance, and Vernon Fire and Rescue quickly arrived.

“Their response time was amazing,” Debbie said.

Both witnesses to the scene believe the sun may have impacted the driver’s ability to see.

The intersection at 32 Ave and 34 Street was named Vernon’s 15th most dangerous intersection according to recent ICBC statistics.

Vernon Matters has reached out to RCMP for details on the incident.
