not a boil water notice

Precautionary water quality notice expanded to all Greater Vernon water customers

Nov 19, 2019 | 3:11 PM

A precautionary water quality notice is in effect for all Greater Vernon water customers.

According to the Regional District of the North Okanagan, a leak was detected at the Duteau Creek UV facility on October 31. Currently water is not being treated with UV, but it is still getting treated at the Duteau Creak water treatment plant the same way it has been for years prior to the UV facility opening in February.

A capital project that would make the Kal Lake Pump House flood resistent expanded the notice.

Customers who receive water through Kalamalka Lake will temporary receive water from Duteau Creek while crews turn off the Kalamalka Lake water source during construction.

Construction on the Kal Lake Pump House is estimated to take two months.

The Regional District of the North Okanagan stresses this is not a boil water notice, but those with compromised immune systems or those with infants may choose to boil their water as an additional precaution.
