Holiday downtime for Tolko in B.C

Nov 14, 2019 | 3:35 PM

Tolko Industries has announced that all of its B.C. operations will be taking two weeks downtime from Dec. 21 to Jan. 6.

The Vernon-based company says the decision is due to ongoing factors like log costs and market conditions.

“This downtime is a result of low prices and high log costs in B.C.,” Vice President, Solid Wood, Troy Connolly said.

The last day of production will be December 20.

In addition, Tolko’s Vernon office will be closed the week of December 23 to 27.

Staffing levels at the company six B.C. operations, which include mills in Lavington and Armstrong, will be restricted to essential services during this period.
