Greater Vernon Recreation launches new survey for active living centre

Oct 30, 2019 | 3:27 PM

Greater Vernon Recreation wants you to have your say on the proposed active living centre.

Recreation services recently launched a short six question survey that is available on engagevernon.ca.

“We need to more clearly define what size and features those facilities will have,” Doug Ross, the director of Recreation Services said. “Now the public can go online and fill out a short survey and provide their input on what types of facilities and what amenities they would like to see included in a new active living centre.”

“The survey asks questions like do you want a 50 meter pool or a leisure pool? What kinds of amenities and features would you like to see? What are the most important considerations for the location?” Ross said.

Recreation ambassadors will also be setting up in the next few weeks at locations throughout the city to gather additional public input and to share information about the feasibility study.

Pop up sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • Nov. 2, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Village Green Mall
  • Nov. 6, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Coldstream Municipal Hall
  • Nov. 8, 5 p.m. -9 p.m. at the Snow Show (Kal Tire Place)
  • Nov. 14, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at BX Elementary School
  • Nov. 15, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Craft Show (Kal Tire Place)
  • Nov. 19, 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. at Okanagan College – Cafeteria
  • Nov. 22, 5:45 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Vernon Vipers game (Kal Tire Place)

Following the public input sessions, draft facility designs will be available for the public to view at an open house on Nov. 24.

The open house will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Vernon Recreation Centre Auditorium.
