Update: Fresh snow on mountains

Opening day is still weeks away, but SilverStar Mountain Resort is getting excited about a fresh coating of new snow.

The resort northeast of Vernon is reporting 25 centimetres of new snow since Sunday.

“It feels like you are inside of a snow global up here on the mountain,” said Resort spokesperson Chantelle Deacon. “It looks like a winter wonderland. It’s getting us very excited for the ski season.”

The Star’s tentative opening date for the Nordic season is Nov. 15, with alpine scheduled for Nov. 28.
