Four face charges in trafficking arrests

Police are recommending drug trafficking charges against four people recently arrested in Vernon.

Mounties arrested a man and woman who were said to be meeting in a vehicle on Longacre Drive on Oct. 9.

“The driver, a 35-year-old female from Vernon, and passenger, a 25-year-old male from the Lower Mainland area, were both arrested and the search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of Canadian currency, fentanyl and cocaine,” RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.

Later that same day, another man and woman were arrested by the Emergency Response Team at a residence in the 4900 block of Old Kamloops Road.

“At that location, two occupants of the house were arrested, a 26-year-old male and a 24-year-old female, who are both new to the Vernon area from Alberta. Search of the residence resulted in the seizure of Canadian currency, fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine,” Noseworthy said.

A condo in the 7300 block of Okanagan Landing Road associated with one of the people arrested, was searched the next day, with cash, fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine seized.

In total, officers seized over $30,000 in cash, and a 2.7 kilograms of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.

“Investigators worked hard to identify those believed to be responsible for supplying drugs to several dealers and locations,” Sgt. David Evans of Targeted Policing said.. “This type of enforcement is part of our commitment to targeting drug trafficking at all levels in the community.”

The four adults arrested have been released, with conditions, and have future court dates in Vernon Provincial Court, with RCMP recommending charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Their names are not being released at this time.
