Voters in the North Okanagan-Shuswap riding will have five candidates to choose from for the upcoming federal election.

The candidate lists were made final in all 338 ridings today.

The local field includes one term incumbent Mel Arnold of the Conservatives, Kyle Delfing of the People’s Party, Cindy Derkaz of the Liberals, Marc Reinarz of the Green Party, and Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP.

Elections Canada says 105,942 residents in the riding, which stretches from Vernon to Salmon Arm, are eligible to vote.

The riding has been decidedly right wing for more than 25 years, electing members of the Conservative, Alliance and Reform parties dating back to 1993 (Arnold, Colin Mayes and Darrel Stinson).

In the 2015 election, Arnold garnered 39 per cent of the vote, Derkaz had 29 per cent, Jacqui Gingras of the NDP had 25 per cent and Chris George of the Greens garnered five per cent.

Voters in the Kelowna-Lake Country riding will have seven candidates to choose from with one term Liberal MP Stephen Fuhr up against Tracy Gray of the Conservatives, while six will run in the Central Okanagan-Similkameen Nicola which includes West Kelowna and part of Kelowna.

Seven candidates are in the race for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo including current Conservative MP Cathy McLeod who is being challenged by former Kamloops mayor and MLA Terry Lake of the Liberals.

General voting day is Oct. 21 with advance polls from Oct. 11 to 14.
