Shamrocks defeat Slovakia in lacrosse friendly

Steve McIlwrath scored five goals while Brett Hawrys and Logan Strohm had hat tricks as the Armstrong Shamrocks defeated Team Slovakia 16-5 at the Hassen Arena Monday night.

“Fans were treated to a lacrosse spectacle of speed and skill throughout the game,” said Shamrocks coach Ryan Nitchie.

The Shamrocks organized the international friendly match against Slovakia in advance of the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships being held in Langley in mid-September.

The Shamrocks have won five straight Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League championships, with the latest in July over the Kelowna Raiders.
