Keller said Mick’s connections at the NCAA, Junior and the pro level will help move his players on to the next level as they play for the Wings this season.

Mick joins the Wings after a coaching/managing career that goes back two decades within the ranks of junior and academy hockey- WHL, BCHL, KIJHL and the CSSHL.

Mick’s resume includes two “Junior A” RBC Cup National Championships with the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL as well as the KIJHL Jr B Western Canadian Championship with the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

“We are excited to have Troy join the GMHL West Division,” stated Keller. “He is a quality person and brings with him a wealth of successful Western Hockey League and Junior A GM/Coach experience as well a former standout junior and pro player. He has a great understanding of today’s players and is known for having his teams play with speed, structure and his offensive flair as a player follows him into his coaching style that will be exciting for the fans and the outstanding group of players he will have for the upcoming season,” said Keller.

The 50 year old Mick is the 13th all time WHL scoring leader with 466 points in 267 games with the Portland Winter Hawks and Regina Pats , and was drafted 130th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.

“I’m very excited to be named the GM/Head Coach of the Cold Lake Wings of the GMHL” said Mick. The town of Cold Lake is going to be very proud of these young men not only on the ice but off the ice, as we will be everywhere out in the community. We have an amazing facility here in Cold Lake and from what I hear the fans are outstanding and I look forward to getting them off their seats chanting Go Wings Go!”
