Vehicle fires keep emergency crews busy

A vehicle on fire has been slowing down long weekend traffic south of Vernon.

Vernon Matters has learned a car is on fire in the south bound lane, about five kilometres south of the Predator Ridge turnoff on Highway 97.

The event has caused a backup in traffic.

Meantime, earlier Friday afternoon, police were called to the scene of a truck fire up Silver Star Road in the Sovereign Lake area.

The BX-Swan Lake Fire Department responded to a truck on fire that was left abandoned on the side of the road, engulfed in flames.
