Nominees announced for Business Excellence Awards

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has announced the nominees for its 2019 Business Excellence Awards.

Local residents submitted nominations for close to 300 businesses, non-profits and individuals in 11 categories.

“We want to thank the public for their participation in the process, and the nominations clearly demonstrate the entrepreneurial spirit. It’s also truly inspiring to see how each of the nominees contribute to the overall well-being of the community,” said Dione Chambers, Greater Vernon Chamber general manager, said.

“We are excited as a group of judges will now have the challenging duty of reviewing all of the nomination packages. It won’t be easy but we know our judges are up to the task,” Chambers said.

Greater Vernon residents will also play a significant role in the process as they can vote for the People’s Choice Awards starting Sept. 1 on the Chamber website.

The top three finalists in each category will be announced at a reception Sept. 4 at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.

The awards will be handed out Oct. 18 at a gala event at the Vernon Lodge Hotel, including the winner of the Business of the Year Award (selected by the judges from all of the nominees in the 11 categories).

The Business Excellence Awards are presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union.
