Prolific offender sent to prison

Sentencing has been held for a Vernon man who broke into a home and stole some items while the residents were sleeping.
26 year old Sheldon Veness pled guilty to break and enter with intent, theft of a motor vehicle and arson, and was given six months in prison followed by two years probation.
A home in Okanagan Landing was broken into in November 2018, with a van and other items stolen, and the van later found on fire nar Okanagan Landing Elementary.
Veness evaded police by driving over curbs at a drive thru the next day, but was arrested after a foot chase with police through yards and a creek on 24th Avenue.
