Witnesses sought in smash and dash

Jul 23, 2019 | 2:51 PM

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is issuing a call for witnesses after a vehicle allegedly collided with a home on July 18.

The incident occurred in the 3900 block of Okanagan Avenue.

Police said the people inside the home heard loud thunderous sounds, and felt shaking just before 9 p.m.

Luckily no one was injured but a fence and some landscaping suffered extensive damage from the crash.

“Witnesses report seeing a dark colored sedan fleeing the area at a high rate of speed just moments after the incident occurred,” RCMP Const. Kelly Brett said in a press release.

“Given the damages to the property, the suspect vehicle will most likely have significant damage to its front end and will be missing the driver side mirror,” she added.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.

People can also submit tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
