Update: Cops descend on Upper Room Mission

Jul 9, 2019 | 3:58 PM

Update:

A stolen property investigation prompted cops to converge at the Upper Room Mission Tuesday afternoon after a person allegedly became aggressive towards an officer, according to Const. Kelly Brett of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

“The person was lawfully detained by police during the investigation and later released with no charge. The investigation into the stolen property is on-going,” Const. Kelly Brett said.

Cops were spotted putting a bicycle in the back of their vehicle.

Brett said that while the force does not currently have a bait bike program in place to catch alleged bike theives, it “is something the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is looking into at this time.”

Three police cruisers were seen at the Upper Room Mission Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were spotted putting a bicycle in the back of their police vehicle and speaking to people nearby at around 2 p.m.

Vernon Matters has reached out to the RCMP for more details.
