Coyotes hit the stage

Watch: Caravan Farm Theatre gears up for The Coyotes

It’s theatre under the stars set in the picturesque wilderness of rural Armstrong.

It’s a place where creative minds merge and singers and actors come alive.

That place is the Caravan Farm Theatre, and the production company is in full rehearsal mode preparing for their latest show The Coyotes.

Written by Peter Anderson and with music by John Millard, the show is a romantic comedy that is described as “a modern fairy tale of love and transformation,” with coyotes.

For some cast and crew members, the show brings home sentimental ties.

In 1978, Melody Anderson was working at a health food store in Salmon Arm when little did she know that she would fall in love with her future partner of 40 years and her future career as a mask designer.

Actors from across the country and around the world come to stay in cabins on site while rehearsing and preparing daily.

The performers are in their second week of rehearsals and they practice for a total of three weeks before hitting the stage in front of an audience.

“It’s professional live theatre, so excellent top-notch performances and design and scenic elements, and the whole atmosphere is such an amazing event,” Estelle Shook Artistic and Managing Director of the Caravan Farm Theatre said.

“It’s not like going to the theatre, with all the stuffiness that it might imply for some people. This is like going to the fair, folk festival, rodeo, or theatre under the stars,” she said.

The show kicks of July 16, 2019 to August 11, 2019.

Tickets are available online or at the Caravan Farm Theatre.
