Update: Truck crash cleared

Update 3 p.m

RCMP say no injuries resulted from a transport truck overturning on Highway 97 west of Vernon this morning.

The incident near Irish Creek Road reduced traffic to single lane alternating for a few hours while the site was cleared.

Police say the trailer load will be removed this evening when traffic is lighter.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

UPDATE – This collision has been cleared and traffic is moving through the area. No injuries to report. Trailer load to be removed this evening when traffic is calm, however please be cautious as you drive through the area. Cause of the incident still under investigation.

Drive BC says the site has now been cleared.

Drive BC says Highway 97 west of Vernon is still seeing traffic delays after a transport truck overturned near Irish Creek Road.

Vehicle recovery is ongoing, with another update on the road status expected later this afternoon.

Drive BC says the road is down to single lane alternating traffic with minor delays.

It’s been slow going for vehicles west of Vernon after the crash of a transport truck on Highway 97.

RCMP say a semi has overturned on the highway near Irish Creek Road, which is west of the former speedway oval in Spallumcheen.

“Expect lengthy delays as traffic is single lane alternating at this time. Updates to follow,” said a tweet from Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 11:34 a.m.
