Fire crews mop up diesel spill

Vernon Fire and Rescue was on clean up duty Friday afternoon after a
large diesel spill on 43 Avenue.

The spill was reportedly caused after a diesel tank on semi truck carrying ATV’s punctured, spilling diesel all over the concrete.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Banner Recreation and Marine parking lot.

Crews applied absorbant sand onto the ground to mop up the diesel and pumped the remaining diesel out of the tank.
