‘We aren’t interested in competing with Vernon’: Coldstream addresses amalgamation

Jun 26, 2019 | 5:16 PM

It has been a topic of controversy for some time: the amalgamation of the District of Coldstream into the City of Vernon.

On Wednesday, at the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce Local Leaders Lunch, Councillor Pat Cochrane addressed an anonymous question about the District’s position on amalgamation.

Cochrane noted that cooperation between the two communities is key and that Coldstream residents have generally voted in favor of Greater Vernon initiatives.

He stepped in for Mayor Jim Garlick who had to leave the lunch early.

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce Local Leaders Lunch was an opportunity for Chamber members to hear from Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming, OKIB Chief Byron Louis, RDNO Chair and Mayor of Lumby Kevin Acton , and Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick about the priorities for their communities.
