Shakespeare's Final Days

All is True at the Vernon Towne Cinema

Jun 24, 2019 | 2:23 PM

All is True is being shown at the Vernon Towne Cinema by the Okanagan Screen Arts Society on June 24th.

This film, directed by and starring Sir Kenneth Branagh as William Shakespeare and Judi Dench as Anne Hathaway, is a look at the final days in the life of renowned playwright William Shakespeare.

An early alternative title for this film was “Henry VIII”, a Shakespearian play from which the original English title of this movie, “All Is True”, has been taken.

Set in 1613, this is a gem of a movie as director Branagh explores the most famous author of all time, revealing the man behind the words. As Shakespeare struggles to repair his troubled family dynamics, his neglect and failings as a husband and father become apparent. He is devastated by the death of his only son, Hamnet, and his personal journey of introspection reveals some family secrets while he searches for the truth.

This film features beautiful cinematography and music with the cinematography for the interior scenes using only candlelight.

Showtimes at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m.

Pre-show there will be introduction by resident film and animation producer, Scott John.

Enjoy live music in the lobby before the early show courtesy of Les Copeland
