Raising Roof For Lavington Rink
The community of Lavington is hoping to raise enough money to raise a roof on its popular outdoor skating rink.
“During the winter, the rink needs to be shoveled, scraped and flooded multiple times a day depending on the snowfall, this is all done by local volunteers, as early as 8 a.m. and then throughout the day,” says a press release.
Organizers say a roof over the cement pad would allow for a longer ice season and as shelter during the summer months or for community events.
The release says: “The rink is used by people from up and down the valley as people love the atmosphere of the outdoor rink, roasting a hot dog on the fire pit and enjoying the games of shinny that take place on the ice. Students from Lavington Elementary also use the rink for their gym classes.”
