District Looks Into New Revenue Sources

Partnerships with local businesses are just one idea that will be looked at to generate new revenue for the Vernon School District.

Board chair Robert Lee says a new revenue generation/service efficiency review committee is being formed to explore the possibilities of funding sources outside of what they get from the province.

“What we have found over the years is simply, at the end of the day, the pie gets smaller and we’re asked to do more with less. So the intent of this new committee is how do
we maximize our efficiencies? Are there ways we can partner with our  community and with our businesses to find resources in e different ways that we can bring revenue into our school system that is outside of what Victoria gives us?” Lee tells Beach Radio News.

The board has approved terms of reference for the new committee, which will have until December to deliver a final report.
