Opposition to Cannabis Production Venture
There is early opposition to a proposed cannabis production facility in rural Lumby.
Green Amber is seeking agricultural land commission approval for a 100-thousand square foot concrete facility on Shafer Road in Area D of the Regional District of North Okanagan.
Opponents plan to be at today’s RDNO meeting to let directors know what they think of the proposal.
“Last week about 20 people spoke at an RDNO public hearing to complain against bylaw 2799 that allows that industry anywhere on ALR land as long as it’s on soil – and some will again show up prior to the RDNO board meeting to let directors know they want all industries – including marijuana industries – to go inside industrial parks not on ALR land, not on non ALR land either as some directors are asking for,” says Tricia Cory in an email to Beach Radio News.
