Road Conditions Have Been Challenging

The City of Vernon’s snow and ice crews admit the conditions the last few days have been challenging.

“The City of Vernon is advising motorists to use caution due to icy road conditions,” says a news release. “Wet roads combined with early morning freezing temperatures have resulted in icy conditions over the last few days.”

The trucks and plows have been using a combination of sand, salt and liquid de-icer to address the icy conditions, which have been developing around 4 or 5 in the morning when the temperature dips below freezing.

“Normal response times for City crews to sand and salt all main routes within the City is approximately 6 hours. This has resulted in icy conditions until mid-to late-morning,” adds the release.
