Alcohol Suspected In Crash
Police say alcohol appears to have been a factor in a serious crash in Kelowna that has left a woman in critical condition.
A vehicle (Chevrolet Avalanche) hit a traffic light standard at Harvey Avenue and Banks Road around 2:13 am Monday, and a female passenger had to be extricated by fire crews.
“The extent of the intrusion of damage into the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle was so significant, that the civilian motorists who were first on scene were unable to observe a severely injured female, in the rear passenger compartment,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey of the Kelowna RCMP. “Emergency crews were required to extricate the female who was rushed to hospital in critical condition.”
The 26 year old male driver suffered relatively minor injuries, but it’s alleged he was intoxicated by alcohol.
