4.4% Tax Hike Proposed

Dec 6, 2018 | 1:26 PM

City of Kelowna staff is proposing a 4.4 percent tax increase for 2019.

That includes 2.45 percent for general tax increases, and 1.95 percent for a new infrastructure levy.

As proposed, it would cost the average homeowner (assessed value of $682,260) an extra $88.

City Council will get an overview of the financial plan from staff at its meeting on Dec. 10 and will discuss budget requests during an all-day session Thursday, Dec. 13 starting at 9 am.

The City’ 2019 Financial Plan is now available for review at kelowna.ca/budget.

City staff say the budget highlights the City’s adoption of the Imagine Kelowna vision into the work we do by delivering on a number of the principles’ goals: embracing diverse transportation options, creating great public spaces that bring people together, being resilient in the face of climate change, and building healthy neighbourhoods that support a variety of households.
