New Party Has ‘Well-Known’ Potential Candidates

Local officials from Canada’s newest right wing party say they plan to choose a candidate early next year.

Glen Walushka, regional organizer for the People’s Party of Canada, says they already have “multiple well-known people” willing to run for the nomination, but he did not provide any names.

“The People’s Party of Canada will definitely be running a highly electable, credible and responsible candidate in 2019 – committed to accountability and the People’s Party of Canada motto – Strong and Free,” Walushka tells Beach Radio News in an email.

The party, led by ex-Conservative MP Maxime Bernier (pictured), plans to run candidates in all 338 ridings for next fall’s election.

“Happy to report that we completed setting up all of the Central South BC Interior EDA’s (electoral district associations) on November 25, 2018. All EDA’s across Canada will be established by mid December, 2018,” adds Walushka.

Walushka says Elections Canada has officially registered the party, meaning they can run candidates in byelections going forward.

“Burnaby South is the likeliest first byelection the PPC will be able to contest in BC.”

The local association will hold its next North Okanagan-Shuswap Board meeting Saturday, December 1 at the Schubert Center, 6:30 pm.
