Former RCMP Leader Presents Safety Report
Bill McKinnon will present his recommendations to improve public safety in Kelowna in report to City Council on Monday.
The city’s former RCMP Superintendent says his ideas look at all aspects of public safety: from various types of enforcement, to health services, to providing basic necessities for the homeless.
He says his primary recommendation is to form a collaborative committee that meets regularly to deal with the social impacts.
“This type of initiative requires leadership from the City of Kelowna because, at the end of the day, the City is left with community outcomes such as public safety, cleanliness, security and enforcement costs, and damage to infrastructure.”
