Device Leads Cops To Robbery Suspects

Modern technology foiled a getaway attempt by some robbery suspects in Salmon Arm.

A man wearing a mask allegedly robbed a couple at knife point outside a Salmon Arm ATM on Monday, getting the victim’s money and keys to their vehicle.

The suspect and a woman then drove towards Vernon in the victim’s SUV.

“The vehicle was tracked with the assistance of the On-Star services tracking system, which guided the Vernon RCMP to the vehicle’s location. The pair was arrested and police were able to recover the vehicle, weapon, disguise, cash and identification belonging to the victim,” says Staff Sgt. Scott West.
