Ski Season Starts

Nov 5, 2018 | 4:00 PM

The Nordic ski season is off to a fairly early start in the Vernon area.

The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club, north east of Vernon, opened 15 kilometres of trails this morning, with a snow base of about 10 centimetres.

“Get ready to be inundated with ski pictures in your social media feeds because SLNC is open for business for the 2018-19 ski season,” says a posting on the SLNC’s website.

The club says more trails will be opened as snow conditions permit.

“Please be aware that our snowshoe trails are not yet open due to a shallow snowpack in the trees.”

Silver Star Mountain Resort is reporting a 28 cm base, with its Nordic season scheduled to open Nov. 16th, and the alpine season on the 22nd.
