Greyhounds Grinds To Halt, Ebus Starts Service

Greyhound ends its bus service in most of Western Canada today, but a new service is ready to take up some of the slack.

Ebus starts its service today.

The company’s John Stepovy says they will have a Vernon stop at the clock tower across from the Post Office, on their twice daily Kamloops to Kelowna runs.

“We’ll have a dedicated spot downtown, the bus can pull over and people can get on and off. Vernon were really treating as a pick up and drop off drop off location.”

It will cost $25 one way from Vernon to Kamloops or Kelowna, and $91 from Vernon to Vancouver.

“The key is it’s one fare for everybody, and it’s a five percent discount when you book online,” Stepovy tells Beach Radio News.

The Greyhound station in Vernon has been put up for sale, with Eatology in talks to buy some of the space to possibly expand its restaurant.

Ebus has secured locations at the Kelowna Airport and at the Sahali Mall in Kamloops.
