Kal Beach Pier Still In State of Disrepair

Local politicians could make some decisions about the Rotary Pier At Kal Beach by next year.

Part of the popular pier has been off limits to the public since last year due to high water causing damage.

Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick says part of the issue is the scope of the damage around the region.

“With all of the damage that was done in the flooding, there is a backlog. And people, we think that stuff just gets cleaned up in a few days after it’s over. It doesn’t. It goes on for months,” Garlick tells Beach Radio News

Garlick also they’re still waiting for the RDNO to settle with an insurance company.

“They had some disagreements to begin, but they’re working it out. Hopefully that gets done sooner than later.”

However, he says they will be able to use the pier for their Halloween fireworks on Wednesday night.

“We’ll utilize the pier, the section that goes straight out to the lake,” says the mayor.
