Battery Backup System Failure Triggers Chlorine Alert at Pool

The City of Vernon have confirmed Vernon Fire Rescue responded this morning at 10 to an electrical failure in a battery backup system that triggered a chlorine alarm at the Vernon Aquatic Centre.

Although there was no chlorine release, the staff followed established safety procedures and evacuated the pool.

At no time were staff or the public at risk.  Staff have replaced the faulty battery pack and the pool reopened at noon today.
